Laila Thortveit studied under renowned teachers such as Karen Nimereala in Paris and Loretta Corelli in Milan from 2004 to 2013. Has taken several Master Classes in Italy, and would especially mention “Artes Padova” under the supervision of the American Alessandra Althoff Pugliese in 2013 where she performed the role of Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto. Laila Thortveit sang for HRH Queen Sonja of Norway in Paris in 2011.

In January 2012, she was the official singer of the Norwegian national anthem at the Trophée FDJ international handball game between France and Norway in Paris-Bercy.

​

She performs the roles of Venus in Orpheus in the Underworld, The Swedish Baroness in Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne, and Arsena in The Gypsy Baron by Strauss with Les Comediens de la Marquise. She achieved 4th place at Level of Excellence in the International competition “Les Clés d’ Or” in June of 2015.

Laila Thortveit regularly performs on the international scene.
